Look you get what you pay for. Tippmann A-5 is better than the 98 because of the hopper system on their. Yes you can do that with the tippmann 98 but you might as well get the A-5 for price. However, if you are thikning of getting a good gun that can be upgraded all around and good at all conditions get a ion XE. Its what I did but it is a bit more expensive but I tell you this.... anyone with a tippmann or spyder(Kingman) who goes up against the ion XE (gun wise) will lose. More expensive but will last. order it at action village.com. I have experience with this. I have an ion buddy has A-5 and a VS3 spyder.......they lost.

I'd reccomend getting a Kingman Pilot ACS, its a good beginner gun, full auto, 6 & 3 shot burst, semi. Go to Big 5 to get it though, you'll get a better deal.

Your question is kinda vague. What kind of paintball player are you? There are two different types of paintball styles of play and depending on which one you fall into should influence what kind of paintball gun to get.

Woodsball - Playing outdoor in the bush usually a very big playing field used by mil-sim games - Tippmann/BT/Tiberius

Tourney - usually consists of small teams vs each other in an enclosed arena - ION/Spyder

Dont go to Walmart or the like. Look for a Paintball store in the area. More than likley you will get a better deal there.

Masks, the single most important bit of gear you have. Get one that fits well, try a few on, see how well you can move in it. You going to spend a lot of time in it, get a good one.

As far as markers, you cannot go wrong with a Tippy M-98. Solid as a tank and dependable.
(Just dont take it apart, lots of springs and bits can get lost)

Like FR3AK_60 said, you can't go wrong with Tippmann or Kingman. A really good Tippmann though is the A5. I am not sure if you can buy it at Target or Walmart, but any local paintball store would have it. Buying it off the internet is another option too. The second best thing (For me atleast) is the Tippmann 98 custom. That you can buy at both Target and Walmart. Good luck.

You can't go wrong with brands like Tippman or Kingman. These both offer a range of models that will most likely fit your budget, remember though, you get what you pay for.
